|
| Day 1) |
Boise, Idaho to Joseph, Oregon - 190 Miles / 305 Kilometers:
We depart Boise and ride northwest through Cambridge, Idaho to the Hells Canyon Recreational Area. We will stop at the Hells Canyon Dam to take a half-day "Jet Boat" ride on the Snake River. From the Hells Canyon area we ride west to Wallowa Lake; located in Joseph, Oregon. This is our destination for the first evening of our trip.
|
| Day 2) |
Joseph, Oregon to St. Maries, Idaho - 230 Miles – 370 Kilometers:
We depart Joseph riding north along the western edge of Hells Canyon. Our route takes us through the Idaho towns of Lewiston and Orofino. We visit the Dworshak Dam in Orofino and continue our ride north along two lane, back roads through the scenic countryside to our destination, located in St. Maries, Idaho. |
| Day 3) |
St. Maries, Idaho to Missoula, Montana – 255 Miles - 410 Kilometers:
From St Maries, we join the Lake Coeur d'Alene Scenic Byway for a beautiful ride along the eastern shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Continuing our ride, we turn east and pass through numerous small towns as we make our way toward Missoula, Montana. Most of this days riding will be on quiet, two lane mountain roads. Here you may relax and enjoy the scenery without being too concerned about vehicle traffic. |
| Day 4) |
Missoula, Montana to Stanley, Idaho - 260 Miles / 418 Kilometers:
We head south from Missoula and ride through a series of small Montana towns. Crossing the Continental Divide at "Lost Trail Pass" we enter into Idaho. Our ride continues south through Salmon, Challis and along the Salmon River into Stanley, Idaho. We overnight at Redfish Lodge, located in the Sawtooth Mountains, just outside of Stanley. |
| Day 5) |
Stanley, Idaho to Boise, Idaho - 130 Miles / 260 Kilometers:
The final day of our ride has us leaving Stanley and heading southwest toward Boise. This day is full of mountain passes, switch-back turns, narrow two lane roads and is jam-packed with with river and mountain scenery. This is probably our most challenging day, in terms of difficulty. The riding will be slow, the roads challenging, so set your own speed and ride safely. Along the way, we pass through two of Idaho's mountain towns; Lowman and Idaho City. Arriving in Boise, we have come to the end of our five day Hells Canyon Tour.
